Osteoporosis is often called the "silent disease" because bone loss occurs without symptoms. However, bones are active living tissues. They are a matrix comprised of protein and collagen fibers that various minerals such as calcium become attached. Daily our bones are continually being dissolved and rebuilt as part of a normal process where old bone tissue is replaced with new.

However, as we age, our body's ability to rebuild new bone is surpassed by the rate at which bones are being dissolved, resulting in an unhealthy bone loss condition called osteopenia and the worsening osteoporosis. To aid bone health, daily intake of calcium supplements typically are recommended to range from 1,000 to 1,200 mg. In order to be effective, this daily dosage must be derived from a bioavailable source, together with adequate digestive system performance, including sufficient secretion of hydrochloric acid levels from the stomach.

There are no sudden signs of osteoporosis.
